RARING TO LEARN

The calibre of players pulling up in the Cobham car park every morning can
attract talented young stars, and for Daniel Sturridge the lure of
learning alongside them was too much to miss.
新同學斯圖里奇有著巨大的學習欲望。
Sturridge has already worked under a great striker in former Chelsea man
Mark Hughes at Manchester City, but for a player who prides himself on
learning from every footballer he watches, he can never have enough good
influences.
年輕前鋒之前跟隨偉大的射手馬克˙休斯，但對一個學習狂來說，好榜樣永遠不嫌多。
'When I was younger I watched Pele videos and as I got a little bit older
I watched [Zinedine] Zidane and Ronaldo, also Thierry Henry and Nicolas
Anelka, there was a long list of players I always tried to learn off.
"小時候我常看貝利的影片，長大以後又看席丹和羅納度，還有亨利和阿內爾卡，我
的學習榜可是落落長。"
'I watch everybody because you can't be stubborn and say "I am not going
to learn off any other players." I believe that you have to study other
players and take attributes out of their game, if you don't then you'll
never improve.'
"我喜歡觀察別的球員，因為三人行必有我師焉，不學習就不會進步。"
And there is plenty to watch at Chelsea, which is why Sturridge will have
a lot of patience as he fights for his place in the team.

'I am a young player and I know I am not a marquee signing, I am here to
learn from the great players at this club.
"我很年輕，我知道我不是什麼重鎊收購，我是來這裡向偉大的球員學習的。"
'I just want to show the fans that I am going to be a good player for the
club. I'll try my hardest and learn from the great players here. In the
future hopefully I can show the fans that I will be here for a long time
and show them that I'm a good player.'
"我只想向球迷展示我將會成為一個出色的球員，我會盡我最大的努力向頂尖球員學
習，我想待在這裡很長一段時間，讓他們知道我是個好球員。"

Another new signing, Ross Turnbull, whose name joined our list of
goalkeepers, is also raring to get stuck into training, but as well as
learning from his peers, Turnbull is ready to push for his place.
另一名新援特恩布爾在向同事學習的同時，也準備好爭取主力位置。
'I have to get involved, it is different from last season [at
Middlesbrough], there's a completely different calibre of players here.
We're talking about the best players in the world. So it is different, but
it is a chance I am looking forward to.
"我必須參與其中，這跟上賽季在米堡完全不同，現在我們談的[競爭對手]是世界上
最好的球員，但這是個我期待的機會。"
'I have a four-year contract and I want to be here longer than that so I
will just keep working hard in training, pushing myself and the other
goalkeepers as much as I can,' he adds.

At a club like Chelsea, opportunities to break into the first team can be
few and far between, but with Didier Drogba's Champions League ban and the
imminent African Cup of Nations, Sturridge's chance may come quicker than
expected.

'I just want to train hard,' says Sturridge modestly, 'try and show the
manager what I can do and if the manager gives me opportunities to get
into the first team then hopefully I can show him then, but I am not
setting any targets for when players leave or when they return.'

For now though there is one more thing on Sturridge's mind. It's a well
known tradition that all new recruits to the club have to sing a song in
front of the team and he'll be no different, but time is running out to
decide what to sing.

'I haven't prepared a song yet but I will have to get one sorted before I
go away, otherwise I will be doomed,' he exclaims.
"我還沒準備好，但在出發之前我必須要搞定它，不然就死定了 XDD"
