Lampard has been all but an ever present in our first three warm-up games, missing only the final three minutes of our 2-0 win over Inter on Tuesday, an indication that he has hit the ground running in the United States. He also scored in our first two games of the tour to reaffirm his position as an essential member of Carlo Ancelotti's team. 'It's great for me to get 90 minutes so I am happy, it's the best way to get fit and I feel a lot better getting towards full fitness,' he said. 'Everybody needs a few games, nobody comes back firing on all cylinders, and it's important we all get to the right level by the end of the tour.' Lampard's displays last season were all the more impressive given the well-publicised problems he has had away from the pitch, but as he explained, football can serve as a useful change of focus. 'Sometimes football can be an escape, I am quite strong mentally anyway and I felt strong on the pitch,' he explained. 'For me it was comfortably my best season, it was just a shame we didn't end with a league or Champions League title but on a personal note it was my best season. 'Experience, hard work and maturity as you get older means top players should have their peaks at a later date because if you look after yourself and gain experience then you should perform at the top level in your thirties,' the midfielder reasoned. 'I just try and learn all the time, from games and the way you train and I'm very fortunate I've had top, top managers. 'I think I'm quite easy to manage because I work and I train and I go home and I try and play every game I can, that's why I always have a good relationship with my managers. It would be nice to have continuity but you take what's in front of you.' On his fifth manager inside two years, Lampard is hoping Carlo Ancelotti is the man who can deliver the success we crave. 'He has the credentials to do that, his history at Milan was a phenomenon. He is a classy man and hopefully we can have success. He works with individuals and that's very enjoyable. 'Becks (David Beckham) loved him, and said he was a fantastic manager. Not only that he is a great man and it's always great to play under someone like that.' With a 100 per cent record going into today's final tour game against Club America, things have been going well, but Lampard insists this is no guarantee of continued success when the season gets going, and that we will be looking out for the usual suspects at the top of the table. 'I don't know, we've had bad pre-seasons and done well so I don't think it matters too much. Obviously the main concentration is when the league games start,' he admitted. 'I think as much as any season, Man United will be strong, obviously they will miss Ronaldo as one of the best players in the world, but they are very strong anyway. Liverpool are going to be as strong as last year, Man City have joined the party with the amount of money they have spent so it's not going to be any easier than any other year, all we have to do is worry about ourselves and we're feeling good.' -- Carefree, wherever we may be We are the famous CFC! -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 86.167.218.250
