Back from his first Chelsea tour, Ross Turnbull feels he is adapting well
to life at Stamford Bridge.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper arrived on a free transfer from Middlesbrough
at the beginning of the month, and made his first friendly appearance as a
sub against Inter in America last week.
Back in England, he has been sharing his thoughts on the trip between a
busy schedule of morning and afternoon training sessions.
'It was fantastic, a different experience for me but one that I enjoyed.
It was great to be with the lads in a closed environment and be playing a
few games,' he said.
'I was pleased to get some game time over there and I didn't concede so
that's good. I felt comfortable, we have some top players here so that
helps and I feel like I have settled in well, hopefully that will
continue.'
And what does the England youth international make of training under the
guidance of Christophe Lollichon, a man who enjoys working his goalkeepers
with some unusual methods, along the lines of human Mousetrap.
'Training has been good, tough, but different again, and I am enjoying the
work,' he reported. 'So far Christophe seems fairly standard but it is
early and I am sure he has something else up his sleeve.
'The lads have been telling me he can go a bit crazy, but we'll wait and
see!'
Finally, it would be wrong to allow any new recruit to get away without
discussing their initiation song and the ribbing that follows.
'The song wasn't too bad, the lads were fine with me,' he smiled. 'I went
for a classic Oasis 'Wonderwall', I'm by no means the greatest of singers
but I think I did okay. It's just good fun isn't it?
'It's safe to say that wasn't my favourite part of the trip though, I
think that was other people singing rather than myself. We had a lot of
good nights together and there was plenty of banter so we had a good
time.'
