FURTHER APOLOGIES

Chelsea and our players have received three further newspaper apologies
today after articles related to the birthday party of Salomon Kalou.
In today's Daily Express on Page 18 under the headline 'Michael Essien and
Salomon Kalou: An apology' is the following:
In our article "Chelsea stars blow ￡120,000 on a party" on 7 August, we
said that a number of Chelsea FC players, including Michael Essien had
spent ￡120,000 on drinks at a party for team-mate Salomon Kalou.None of
the Chelsea players spent these extravagant sums.The party was paid for by
friends who are unconnected with the Club and the costs involved were a
fraction of that claimed. We apologise to Salomon Kalou and Michael Essien
for these inaccuracies.
In today's Daily Star on Page 2 under the same headline is the following:
In our article "England Ace Terry and pals blow ￡120k in 90 mins of bar
action" on 7 August, we said that a number of Chelsea FC players,
including Michael Essien had spent ￡120,000 on drinks at a party for
team-mate Salomon Kalou.None of the Chelsea players spent these
extravagant sums.The party was paid for by friends who are unconnected
with the Club and the costs involved were a fraction of that claimed. We
apologise to Salomon Kalou and Michael Essien for these inaccuracies.
Both of these papers had previously apologized to John Terry.
In today's Independent on Page 43 under the headline 'Chelsea FC' is the
following:
In our article 'The yobs may go to ground but they will not go away'
(27August 2009) we referred to reports published elsewhere that Chelsea FC
players had spent ￡100,000 on a nightclub spree. We are happy to clarify
that the event was paid for by people unconnected with Chelsea and the
cost was approximately ￡6,000.'
This takes the total number of apologies received from newspapers to eight.
