RHP Alfredo Simon likely will join two other Baltimore closers on the
disabled list before the first pitch with Oakland on Tuesday. Simon strained
his left hamstring covering first base in the 10th inning Sunday at
Washington. He had been a pleasant success in the closer's role, converting
six of seven save opportunities in the absence of injured predecessors Mike
Gonzalez and Jim Johnson.
