http://tinyurl.com/34j437 NEW YORK -- Peyton Manning finally has his first championship. But don't expect Alex Rodriguez to draw any inspiration from the Colts quarterback. "My situation has nothing to do with Peyton," Rodriguez said yesterday during a one-day tour of the area to promote his new children's book. "But I was very happy to see him win a world championship. It was very well deserved. "My burden has always been the same. The only reason I play the game is to win a world championship." But he yet to even reach the World Series. The Yankees fell short last year as Rodriguez again struggled in the postseason, getting dropped to No. 8 in the order for the final game. General manager Brian Cashman refused to consider dealing Rodriguez (who has a no-trade clause), leaving Rodriguez heading into another spring training talking about his elusive goal. Rodriguez said yesterday he has no lingering issue with manager Joe Torre for moving him down the lineup and has no concerns about his image. But Rodriguez did duck a question about whether he would consider exercising the clause in his contract that allows him to become a free agent after this season. Rodriguez's book, "Out of the Ballpark," went on sale yesterday. He signed copies at the Barnes and Noble on Fifth Avenue, where about 400 fans waited in line all morning and cheered his entrance. He also appeared at a book store in Glen Rock and made appearances on "Live with Regis and Kelly" and "The Martha Stewart Show" and also on CNN. The book, published in English and Spanish, is a semi-autobiographical story of a boy named Alex who "is determined not to let his mistakes set him back," according to publisher HarperCollins. For the fans who showed up for an autograph and photo op, Rodriguez's litany of mistakes -- his 1-for-14 showing in the 2006 postseason and streak of 12 playoff games without an RBI -- was a distant memory. Torre never gave an explanation for hitting Rodriguez eighth in Game 4 of the AL Division Series against Detroit, and Rodriguez doesn't seem to need one. "I come out, I prepare," he said, "and I'm a believer that if Joe says, 'Take out the garbage,' I take out the garbage. There's no questions asked, and there's no attitude. That's just the bottom line. I'm very old school when it comes to that. I've never been a person that ever questions my authority. "Like I said (after) that last game, the person I've got to look in the mirror at is me. There's not anybody else." Asked about his image, he said, "I think my image is fine. The only thing I care about is playing baseball, and winning a world championship. I think as long as you play baseball, everything's going to take care of itself." -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 211.76.83.152
