Another clubhouse source indicated that relations between Lindor and Juan Soto were chilly, following the latter’s arrival on a record $765 million contract. "Soto is very businesslike — all business, no fluff," the source said. "He wan ts to come to the yard and work his tail off and win games. He's not into fashio n or any of that other stuff. Lindor is into that. Lindor, who has often been i dentified as captain material, seemed to lose some of his grasp on the clubhouse . Soto hardly dispelled that notion with his assertion late in the season that St arling Marte was the team captain. "[Marte] is literally the leader of this team — I feel like he's actually the captain of this team," Soto said. "He's bringing everybody together. He's bringi ng the energy we need.
