The right-hander -- Toronto's biggest free-agent investment over the winter -- strained the ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow and would wind up on the disabled list until late June. What went right: Minus Burnett's injury, the Blue Jays' offseason additions paid off. Ryan was dominant as Toronto's closer and Glaus, Lyle Overbay, and Bengie Molina helped Toronto's offense emerge as one of the best in baseball. What went wrong: Simply put, the pitching went wrong. Burnett and Chacin each missed at least two months because of elbow injuries, and Josh Towers, who led the club with 13 wins in 2005, went 1-9 as a starter with a 9.11 ERA and was demoted twice to Triple-A. Catchers Gregg Zaun and Molina are both free agents and the Jays won't bring both back. Aaron Hill will start, but whether that's at second base or shortstop remains to be seen. Lind tore through the Minors this year and made a smooth transition to the big leagues in September.
