Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Medlen, a right-handed starting pitcher for the Atlanta Braves, was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. "Anytime you have an arm injury, it's a steep hill to climb," Medlen said prior to Thursday's opening game here between the Braves and Giants at Turner Field.
