ALBURY, Australia - Jarmila Gajdosova has one major accomplishment already
down for 2009 - she recently married ATP player Sam Groth. Gajdosova and
Groth were married last week in Albury, Australia in an intimate ceremony
with family and friends. Jarmila has taken his name and will now go by
Jarmila Groth. The couple met while they were both training at the famed
Australian Institute of Sport in 2007.
"I think we're actually a pretty good match on the court as well," said the
world No.90 of her new husband. "We just need to play a few more matches
together."
Gajdosova has finished in the year-end Top 100 twice in her career, in 2006
and 2008. Her first Top 100 season was highlighted by a quarterfinal showing
at Portoroz, while her second Top 100 season was highlighted by her first
semifinal finish at Tokyo [Japan Open]. She has reached two other
quarterfinals in her Sony Ericsson WTA Tour career, one in 2003 (Budapest)
and one in 2007 (Prague). She has won all of her career titles on the ITF
Women's Circuit - 11 in singles and five in doubles. She will represent
Australia instead of Slovakia now.
Jarmila will be playing the PTT Pattaya Women's Open in Thailand this coming
week, while Sam leaves for Spain to train.
