Double Wimbledon Champion Petra Kvitova Signs With IMG

Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova has signed a management deal with IMG
Worldwide Inc., joining a roster of Grand Slam tennis champions including the
best-paid female athletes, Maria Sharapova and Li Na.
The 24-year-old Czech, who overpowered Canada’s Eugenie Bouchard in straight
sets last month to clinch her second Wimbledon title, is fourth in the
rankings of the women’s WTA Tour. Her current roster of seven sponsors
includes the largest sporting-goods maker Nike Inc. (NKE), racket
manufacturer Wilson, Czech postal service operator Ceska Posta and UniCredit
Bank.
“My sponsorship deals have been very focused on the Czech Republic so far so
I am hoping to work with some global brands and I’m excited to see what the
IMG machine can do,” said Kvitova, who’s won 12 career singles titles, in
an e-mail.
Kvitova has been guided by her Czech business manager Miroslav Cernosek and
will continue to work with M-Sport Services in the Czech Republic in
collaboration with IMG.
She earned $3.3 million from prize money and endorsements in the year ended
June 2013, according to Forbes. Sharapova, a five-time major singles champion
from Russia, earned $29 million in the same period, while China’s Li, the
first Asian Grand Slam singles winner, made $18 million.
“The sky is the limit for Petra’s talent and she is a player who we believe
is on her way to becoming an international star,” said Marijn Bal, Kvitova’
s new agent at IMG. “We believe that she can win many more Grand Slams and
IMG can help build her brand globally.”
和IMG簽下經紀約，文章裡也提到和原本捷克的經紀人Cernosek仍會繼續合作，這樣大概是
把國際市場交給IMG，國內仍由M-Sport Services負責。
公關經紀人Katie Spellman也表示會繼續負責Petra的PR(記者會、網路社群、形象等等)
