David Di Michele has rubbished talk that he is an alternative
for Antonio Cassano in the Italian national side.
The Palermo forward was again included in Roberto Donadoni's squad
last night, while Cassano was left at home for the Euro 2008 ties
against Ukraine and Georgia.
However, the former Udinese man has insisted that his form
hasn't pushed the Real Madrid man to the sidelines.
Di Michele堅稱不是自己的狀態把 Cassano擠出大名單的。
“I don't think I'm in the squad as a replacement for Cassano,”
the pacey attacking player stated on Monday evening.
他說：「我不認為我在隊上是要當 Cassano備胎的。」
“I don't want to be compared with Antonio,
also because I consider Cassano to be a great attacker.
「我不打算跟他作比較，也因為我認為他是一個出色的前鋒。」
“I am simply here because my hard work with Palermo,
who are having an important season, has been recognised.”
「我在這裡單純是因為我在 Palermo工作辛勤，
球隊正處在重要的一季，大家都這麼認為。」
The Sicilian giants currently lead the Serie A standings, with Roma,
which have led to whispers of the Scudetto at the Renzo Barbera.
However, a cautious Di Michele has looked to cool the enthusiasm
surrounding West Ham's UEFA Cup conquerors.
“Palermo, like Roma, are inferior to Inter when it comes down
to our squads and in terms of team play,” he noted.
「Palermo，就像 Roma一樣，在陣容與交戰對手都比 Inter略差一點。」
（交戰對手是指歐戰，前兩隊都大勝，Inter二連敗。）
“We are just aiming for one of the three places behind first
because we clearly can't expect to win the Serie A title.”
