The 19-year-old Scot reached his third Masters Series quarter-final with a 7-6 (7-5) 6-4 win, sealing victory with his 10th ace of the match. He next faces eighth seed Tommy Haas, who beat Fernando Gonzalez 6-3 6-2. "I served a few aces and on the important points hit some big serves," said the British number one. An early break in the second set proved decisive as Murray took the upper hand. Despite a wobble in the eighth game, Murray never let slip the advantage he took early in the set and won it 6-4. "I was a bit nervous at the end but managed to come through it. This court is a little bit slower I think than the other ones. "It didn't bounce like the outside courts, it took a while to get used to. I'm happy with how I adjusted." On the same side of the draw, Murray's friend and fellow 19-year-old Novak Djokovic beat Julien Benneteau 6-3 6-1.
