新聞來源 - BBC Tottenham patient over Bale offer Tottenham have confirmed they are trying to buy 10m-rated Southampton left-back Gareth Bale - but are willing to wait to sign the teenage Wales star. The January transfer window shuts on Wednesday and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is aware Bale would want time to think over any move. Levy said: "When you are trying to attract a 17-year-old it is a very big decision for him and his family. "We are giving them all the time in the world to make a decision." Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has already failed with a bid for Bale - and feels Tottenham are in pole position to clinch a deal for the defender. But Levy emphasised that the club does not have to rush into any move as manager Martin Jol has already strengthened his squad this month. Portugal centre-back Ricardo Rocha, Sunderland goalkeeper Ben Alnwick and French defender Adel Taarabt have all arrived at White Hart Lane. Levy told Sky Sports: "January is always a difficult time to buy players. "Certainly our philosophy here is to end the window, whether it be January or the summer, in a better position than we started, and we have already signed three players early on.
