Garnett hurt himself while going up for an alley-oop late in the first half. He landed gingerly and motioned immediately to the bench for a substitute. He warmed up with his teammates before the second half, but the Celtics weren't going to take any chances with the superstar for a regular season game when Boston already had the best record in the Eastern Conference. Garnett issued a statement after the game saying, "as you know, I suffered a strain to my right knee tonight. I really don’t have any comment about it. I will have the knee re-examined (today) and we should have more information at that time. Obviously, I’d much rather be playing instead of giving this statement. Thank you." It's likely that the Celtics will play it safe, and if KG misses any time then Leon Powe, Glen Davis, and Brian Scalabrine will become more relevant, while Paul Pierce and Ray Allen will carry more offensive load.
