Of the Kings' rotation players, Francisco García is the old man of the
bunch. He is 29, more humble than ever, and he would like to believe, much
wiser than before.
Cisco是國王輪值內球員當中最老的。他29歲，比以前還要謙卑，也比以前還要有智慧。
He will never again try to outsmart 90-pound dumbbells, for one thing. Images
of his Oct. 9 accident in the weight room still cause him to wince. He sees
himself leaning back on the physio ball, arms extended forward, each hand
clutching a 90-pound free weight. He feels the pain as his right elbow smacks
the floor, hears the pop in his broken forearm.
他沒有再去試著去使用90磅的dumbbell。那場意外仍然讓他退縮，他看著他自己躺在球上

None of which provides much consolation to García, the most popular player
in the locker room and the Kings' unofficial leader. While he experiences his
own anxious moments trying to regain his timing and conditioning, he looks at
youngsters Donté Greene, Jason Thompson, Tyreke Evans, Spencer Hawes and
Omri Casspi, and assumes the responsibility of the firstborn.

"I have a tough job," he quipped the other night, nodding at two discouraged
Kings. "Keeping these young guys from getting their heads down, it's not

A young, inexperienced García was a handful. He was emotional, stubborn,
immature, at times hot-headed. His mood fluctuated by the performance,
similar to many of the current Kings.

During his rookie season, he was probably best known for his nightly
gamesmanship with the refs. He would yank his jersey out of his shorts in
violation of league policy and wait for the officials to enforce the tuck
rule. When the ref turned away, out came the jersey. When the ref cautioned
him again, in went the shirt. Then it came out.

Petrie would watch from the baseline tunnel, visibly irritated.

"Eventually you figure it out," the fifth-year pro said with a grin.

The beauty of García is that he has added substance to his game without
abandoning his swagger. He is chatty, energetic and passionate, and as he
regains his confidence, his demeanor is increasingly becoming oh-so-'Cisco.

Case in point: Sunday night against the Clippers. As the clock neared the
final ticks of the first period, the 6-foot-7, 195-pound García calmly
dribbled downcourt, ignoring the warning pleas from the bench.

"I got it, I got it," he responded, frowning, with a wave of his arm. He took
a few more dribbles and fired a last-second laser to Hawes for a wide-open

That's the swingman whose presence has been missed, who has endeared himself
to the franchise, to the fans, to his teammates. He pushes the pace,
distributes the ball, converts open shots, slips behind for sneaky strips and
blocks.
他受球迷、隊友們的喜愛。他加快腳步、分球、轉換空檔，為了抄截和火鍋鬼鬼崇崇的。
He is caring and unselfish and, as Petrie says, "is a good spirit."
就如Petrie所說「是個好傢伙」
The game needs good spirits. Less machismo in the weight room, though.
Definitely that.
比賽需要多點好傢伙。
