"I felt fine," Moehler said."It was a battle.Thirty pitches in the first inning, that's a lot of pitches. It took its toll." Damon sparked the inning with a leadoff double. Ramirez then considered making a bold decision on Derek Jeter's grounder. Leaning as if to try to make a play on Damon running to third, Ramirez muffed the bouncer entirely. Jason Giambi had an RBI single, and Posada delivered a two-run single on a ball that Jacobs was close to making a play on down the first-base line. "It was a sloppy first inning," Moehler said. "I gave up some hits. It was one of those innings. That's the way it goes. We were still in it, able to score three." The three errors were the most the Marlins committed in an inning since Sept.17, 2005. In the ninth that day, the Phillies capitalized on four Florida errors to score 10 runs in the inning. While there were three errors, Jacobs felt he should have been charged with an error on Posada's hard grounder toward the line. "Those were pretty much plays we should make, but didn't make --my two and that one kind of took a funny hop on Hanley, too," Jacobs said. "It could have been a lot different game if we had had a better first inning. Mo made some pretty good pitches in that inning, and we failed behind him." On the Posada grounder, Jacobs said he felt he hurried trying to get the ball in an attempt to turn a double play. "It should have definitely been an error, that's for sure," Jacobs said. "I don't know if it snowballed. We had opportunities to make plays and we just didn't do it.
