MIAMI GARDENS - When Luis Gonzalez signed with the Marlins, the plan was that
he would see spot duty as the fourth outfielder.
原本馬林魚簽下Luis Gonzalez是要讓他擔任第四號外野手的腳色.
But injuries have meant Gonzalez has played in 39 of 41 games, and he could
be a starter for a while, depending on when Josh Willingham can return from
his back injury.
不過傷兵的困擾使得Gonzalez在四十一場比賽中出賽了三十九場.
他在Josh Willingham歸隊前還將繼續擔任先發外野手.
"You don't know what to expect. I knew I just had to be ready," said
Gonzalez, 40, who is in has 18th season and was signed as a free agent in
February.

Gonzalez has played right field and left field and has had a hot bat of late,
seeing his average climb to .276 from .203 in his past 10 games. He had a
seven-game hitting streak going into Friday night's game.

Gonzalez has also had an impact in the locker room, where he established
himself as one of the key leaders.

Ross said. "He has been there and done that, winning the World Series and
playing well for so long."

Gonzalez is the oldest player on the team and enjoys being around the young
Marlins.

I saw them turning the corner and wanted to be a part of that."
