Gonzalez, Uggla ejected as Marlins' losing skid continues

MIAMI -- Dejected and ejected sums up the frustrations the Marlins felt on
Friday night.

An emotionally-charged game was punctuated by two ejections and a smashed
helmet that led to an equipment fine.

The Dodgers compounded the Marlins' struggles by rallying to a 6-4 win in
front of 20,030 who endured an engaging game that was delayed by 17 minutes

Along with losing their fifth straight, the Marlins, at times, lost their
cool. Dan Uggla and manager Fredi Gonzalez were ejected in the eighth
inning, and in the ninth inning, Emilio Bonifacio was cited for slamming
his helmet, a finable offense.

Things got heated in the eighth when Uggla squared to bunt with Jorge Cantu
on first base and no outs. Trailing by a run, Uggla turned to sacrifice,
but he was struck on the right hand by a Cory Wade pitch.

Uggla felt he attempted to pull the bat back as he was being plunked.
Initially, home-plate umpire Joe West awarded Uggla first base.

Dodgers manager Joe Torre asked West for a second opinion, contending the
Marlins' second baseman offered at the pitch. First-base umpire Ed Rapuano
ruled Uggla attempted to bunt. Out of the dugout sprinted Gonzalez, who was
immediately ejected.
道奇教練Joe Torre向一壘審Ed Rapuano尋求改判，他認為阿哥當下是想點而沒有收棒

Resetting the at-bat, Uggla struck out swinging, and out of his frustration,
he smashed his bat, drawing an ejection. On his way back to the dugout,
Uggla waved his left hand in disgust in Rapuano's direction, and he offered
a few words.

"I was surprised, but there is nothing you could do about it," Uggla said

Uggla said he watched the replay, and reiterated that he had to live with
the decision.

the way," Uggla said. "You're not trying to bunt it, unless for some reason
that's the only thing you think is going to save you. You're trying to bunt

balls-and-strikes situation, which was fine," Gonzalez said. "But we felt

Exasperating the inning was the fact Jeremy Hermida followed with his third
hit of the game, a single to right field. The Marlins had the bases loaded
when pinch-hitter John Baker walked, but Wade worked out of the jam by
retiring Alfredo Amezaga on a fly ball out to center field.

The Dodgers added on in the ninth inning, when Juan Pierre scored on Andre

The Marlins still had a chance in the ninth off closer Jonathan Broxton, in
another tension-packed inning. Bonifacio led off with a hard grounder that
James Loney made a nice diving play on. He flipped to Broxton covering the
bag, and on a bang-bang play, Rapuano called Bonifacio out.

In frustration, Bonifacio slammed his helmet, drawing an equipment fine.
Also, an undetected fan tossed a big-gulp-sized drink onto the field in the
direction of Rapuano. Security looked for the culprit, who wasn't
identified.

"It's not an easy job what they're doing," Uggla said of the umpires.

call it the way that you see it. A lot of people take for granted how hard
that is. The Bonifacio play could have gone either way. I couldn't tell if
he was out or safe. I was watching it on TV. Those plays come, and they do
the best job they can making the calls."

With one out in the ninth, the Marlins threatened when Chris Coghlan and
Hanley Ramirez drew successive walks. Jorge Cantu had an eight-pitch
showdown with Broxton, and on a full count, he hit a hard grounder up the
middle. Broxton snared it and threw him out at first base.

The game ended with runners on second and third for Florida when
pinch-hitter Ross Gload's fly ball was caught by Ethier in right field.

"One thing you will say about our club is they never give up," Gonzalez
said. "They battle. They battle. They had situations in the game with the

The Marlins led 2-0 in the fourth inning on Cody Ross' two-run homer off
Eric Stults. It was his fifth homer of the season, and first since May 2

After rallying from three down to tie it in the sixth inning, the Dodgers
claimed the lead for good in the seventh on Pierre's two-run single with

Marlins right-hander Chris Volstad limited the Dodgers to one hit and no
runs through five innings, but the third time through the lineup hurt the
22-year-old.

In the sixth inning, Casey Blake and pinch-hitter Xavier Paul hit
back-to-back homers off Volstad.

"The first five innings, obviously, were really good," Volstad said. "I
think I just fell into too many patterns. I think they were looking for
pitches I was throwing in certain counts. They put good swings on them.
I just needed to make they adjustments."

短暫的小會議，他向大家道歉。隊友們對他打氣並擁抱。目前躲人是三連勝狀態，五
月7日禁賽宣佈時躲人一度陷入一勝四負。

投手丘練投。另外JJ說他已經準備好下週二先發。
4. Fredi說如果球隊需要3號捕手的話，曾經在高中蹲過的Coghlan可以勝任。
Coghlan: 我從小時候打Little League之後就沒再守過外野你們都放心讓我上，那蹲
捕手還有什麼問題！！
