Rodriguez, Sun Sentinel 6:40 p.m. EDT, July 14, 2010 At 42-46, the Florida Marlins are far from the playoff team owner Jeffrey Loria demanded in spring training. The shortcomings have already cost manager Fredi Gonzalez his job as part of a poorly executed attempt to jump start the team. Inspite of outstanding individual performances from players such as Josh Johnson and Gaby Sanchez, and the arrival of budding superstar Mike Stanton, the Marlins have been unable to sustain a winning streak. As a result, several players are vulnerable to trade before the July 31 deadline. President of Baseball Operations Larry Beinfest termed the season "disappointing" and "frustrating." They signed him to a four-year, $39 million contract in the offseason and Johnson thanked the Marlins by cementing his standing as one of the game's top pitchers. He has a major league-best 1.70 ERA at the break and earned an All Star selection for the second consecutive season. Johnson's run of starts allowing two runs or fewer while pitching six or more innings is at 11. Over that stretch, which began May 13, Johnson is 6-2 with a 0.80 ERA, 12 walks and 76 strikeouts in 79 innings. 賽揚獎在望: 馬大魚對JJ的期望終於開花結果了!!在offseason和馬大魚簽下4年39M的 JJ藉由成為主宰比賽的頂尖投手來報答馬大魚. Even in a field that includes lauded youngsters Stephen Strasburg and Jason Heyward, Sanchez has garnered attention. He won Rookie of the Month honors for June and at the break is batting .302 with nine homers, 39 RBI and 21 doubles. Caught on guard: Catcher John Baker missed the final 54 games of the first half with a forearm injury and isn't expected back until early August. Ronny Paulino assumed the bulk of the catching duties and has performed well offensively. He ended the first half on a 2-for-24 skid and manager Edwin Rodriguez recognized the need to give him some days off. Three things that went wrong 三件最令人失望的事 Botched managerial change: The Marlins did not fire Fredi Gonzalez on June 23 with the idea of replacing him with Triple-A manager Edwin Rodriguez for the rest of the season. President of Baseball Operations Larry Beinfest talked about the Marlins being stuck in neutral. They had every intention of putting Bobby Valentine in the driver's seat. When negotiations blew up, the Marlins were left scrambling. They had little choice but to leave Rodriguez in the job and conduct a more thorough search at season's end. To err is all too common: At their current pace, the Marlins will total 130 errors, seven shy of the franchise record set in 2007. The Marlins have cut their errors from 137 to 117 to 106 last season, but that trend is not likely to continue in 2010. Only the Nationals (75) have totaled more defensive miscues than the Marlins (71). Shortstop Hanley Ramirez (12) already has two more errors than he amassed last season. Jorge Cantu with 11 is two shy of his 2009 total. Bullpen woes: The front office has devoted much of its time and effort to finding the right mix of relievers. Excluding starter Nate Robertson, who made one relief outing, the Marlins have used 17 different pitchers out of the bullpen. Seven of the Marlins' 46 losses have come in games in which they led after six innings and they've totaled 11 last at-bat losses. The bullpen isn't the club's lone problem, but it's been the most glaring the most often. Three things to look for in the second half 三件後半季值得期待的事 Player movement: The Marlins have 16 games before the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline. They'd probably have to win no fewer than a dozen of those to justify keeping this team intact. Jorge Cantu, Nate Robertson and Wes Helms all are free agents after this season and probably the most vulnerable. Dan Uggla and Cody Ross also will draw interest, but they are under contract through 2011. The Marlins are under no financial pressure to trade either one. If there is no deal to their liking, chances are the Marlins hold on to Uggla and Ross through season's end and revisit trade talks during the winter. 球員異動: 馬大魚在731大限前還有16場比賽, 最好要贏其中的12場(@@!)才能確保球隊不會有人被交易出去, 否則像Cantu, 眼鏡哥, Wes Helms等在球季結束就會成為FA的就很有可能變成交易對象. 阿丹和肉絲雖然也有不少球隊有興趣(附帶一題, 據說勇士對肉絲也很有興趣, 就看大總管要怎麼做了~), 但是他們至少要等到明年才會成為FA, 而馬大魚目前也不像以往有財務因素而需要交易走他們. 如果沒有好的交易菜單送上來, 那最好的方式就是等到冬天再來重新尋找交易對象(總而言之還是要交易出去就對了?). A star in the making: The most pressing first-half question among Marlins fans next to when Gonzalez would be fired was when Stanton would arrive. He made his major league debut June 8 and looks like he'll eventually become a force in the league. Stanton hit safely in six of his last seven games before the break with an extra-base hit in each of those contests. Teammates marvel at how hard he hits the ball, but Stanton, 20, has plenty of work to do. He struck out 44 times in 108 at-bats and has a .276 on-base percentage. 冉冉上升的新星:前半季最令人好奇的問題除了Fredi Gonzalez什麼時候會被開除外, 就屬Stanton何時會被上來了. 而Stanton在6/8完成他的處女秀, 也展現出他將成為聯盟中的一股新興力量. Young blood: The Marlins have another major league-ready, impact bat in the minors, but have no place to put him. Through 56 games for Triple-A New Orleans, the left-handed hitting Logan Morrison was batting .308 with a .903 on base plus slugging percentage. Morrison is a natural first baseman, but he has been playing regularly in left field. It won't improve them defensively, but the Marlins' pre-trade deadline maneuvering could result in Chris Coghlan coming back to the infield and Morrison getting a promotion to play left. Other prospects knocking on the door include lefty starter Sean West and power right-handed relievers Jhan Marinez and Jose Ceda. 新血的補充: 馬大魚還有另一個已經準備好要上大聯盟, 但是卻找不到位置擺的大棒子. 在3A New Orleans Zephyrs的56場中, 左打的Logan Morrison有0.308打擊率, 0.903的 OPS.
