Davis makes big league debut on Wednesday

MIAMI -- Removing both the pitcher and catcher in the middle of the inning
was a sign that something was up.
當投手和捕手都在同一局被換掉，這必定事有蹊蹺。
For a few seconds, catcher Brad Davis was caught in the confusion.
而在發生這件事當下，主角Davis也是整個茫然。
Davis was in the middle of a game for Triple-A New Orleans at Round Rock on
Tuesday night. Manager Greg Norton went to the mound to make a pitching
change. While out there, Davis also was told he was coming out of the game.
這是在星期二晚上，3A的New Orleans在Round Rock比賽時發生的。New Orleans的總教練
Greg Norton在上投手丘換投後，也順便告訴Davis他可以不用再比賽了。
"I had no idea really what was going on," Davis said. "He came out and pulled
me in the middle of the inning, during a pitching change. I was kind of
shocked."
Davis說：「我完全不知道發生什麼事，教練只是在換投時順便過來並把我換下去。我真的
有點嚇到了。」
Sensing Davis' bewilderment, Norton sprung the good news.
感覺到了Davis的困惑，Norton告訴他一個好消息：
Davis was being promoted to the big leagues. The Marlins selected the
contract of the 27-year-old from New Orleans. After being in the system since
2004, Davis made his MLB debut on Wednesday.
馬大魚從3A的New Orleans挑中了27歲的Davis拉上大聯盟。從2004年就待在馬大魚小聯盟
的Davis，在星期三進行了他大聯盟的處女秀!
Davis was behind the plate, catching Ricky Nolasco when the Marlins faced the
Rockies at Sun Life Stadium.
而這場初登場是在主場Sun Life Stadium對上落磯，接捕的先發投手是No-No。
The Marlins promoted Davis after placing Brett Hayes on the disabled list
with a left hand contusion.
馬大魚是在Brett Hayes因為左手挫傷被放進15天傷兵名單後決定拉上Davis。
A fifth-round pick in 2004, Davis caught at Long Beach State for current big
leaguers Jered Weaver and Jason Vargas.
在04年第五輪被馬大魚選中的Davis在Long Beach大學時期也有接補過現役大聯盟選手
Jered Weaver和Jason Vargas的球。(這兩位前者是在06年初登板；後者是05年...)
Now, after 1,701 Minor League at-bats, Davis made it to the Major Leagues.
現在，經過1701個小聯盟打席後，Davis完成了他在大聯盟的初登板。
"This is what I've been working for the past seven years in baseball," Davis
said. "It's what I've been working for, this opportunity. To come out here
and make my first start, I'm ecstatic."

During Spring Training, Davis had the chance to work with a majority of the
Marlins pitchers, including Nolasco.

"I've caught quite a few of these guys," Davis said. "I've caught a lot of
these pitchers. I've got a lot of time with almost everyone."
Davis說：｢我接過一些這種年輕小夥子的球，我也接過許多馬大魚投手的球，我更是花費
我的生涯(用生命XD)來接每一位投手投出的球。」

Coghlan back at the top of Marlins lineup
MIAMI -- Chris Coghlan is back in the starting lineup, hitting leadoff on a
team desperately looking for some production.
The Marlins are hoping his return can help trigger some runs.
Out since the sixth inning of last Saturday's game with a sore lower back,
Coghlan missed three starts. Even though he has been in the midst of an
0-for-16 slump, he is a proven .300 hitter. When the offense is going well,
he usually is in the middle of things.
"I don't feel any added pressure or anything," Coghlan said of the offensive
woes of late. "I think it's inconsistency."
The Marlins are coming off being shutout, 10-0, by the Rockies on Tuesday.
They were limited to three hits by Jeff Francis over seven innings.
Twice in their past five games, they've been unable to score. And even last
weekend, when they won two of three against the Nationals, the Marlins scored
just three total runs.
A sign of the inconsistency is the fact they scored nine runs on Monday
against the Rockies, including six (four earned) off Ubaldo Jimenez over his
5 1/3 innings.
"We face Jimenez, who is probably the second best pitcher in baseball right
now behind our guy [Josh Johnson]," Coghlan said. "You go out there and
battle. I think it was his shortest outing of the year thus far.
"It's just frustrating, that inconsistency."
Coghlan and Gaby Sanchez, who hit first and second, were both out of the
lineup on Tuesday. Sanchez was given a day off mainly to get veteran Wes
Helms into the lineup in hopes of keeping him fresh.
Sanchez is baffled by the lack of consistent production. While the numbers
haven't been there, the rookie first baseman praises new hitting coach John
Mallee for his preparation.
"I don't think it's the lack of coaching or anything like that. We're
prepared," Sanchez said. "We know what they've got. Mallee is doing a great
job preparing us for the series, and he's always available to work. It's not
a lack of preparation or anything.
"It's baseball. It's hard to say and hard to think about why we're not
scoring runs consistently. I just feel like it's one of those things where
we're not clicking on all cylinders. We've just got to get to that point."

Marlins place Hayes on 15-day DL
MIAMI -- In a lopsided game on Tuesday, the Marlins decided to give Ronny
Paulino a breather behind the plate.
在禮拜二一面倒的比賽後段，馬大魚決定讓Paulino休息一下。
They put backup Brett Hayes in on a night the Rockies won, 10-0. But in the
seventh inning, Hayes took a couple of hard foul balls off his glove. The
hard knocks ended up landing Hayes on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday.
所以馬大魚在比賽後段把替補捕手Brett Hayes給換上。但在第七局接界外球時弄傷了自己
的左手，在星期三就被放進傷兵名單。
"They were within five or 10 pitches apart in the seventh," Hayes said. "It
didn't feel very good."
Hayes說：｢這大概是在前5~10球就發生的吧，而這真的感覺不是很好。」

Hayes is on the DL with a left wrist bruise.

Because the Marlins are carrying two catchers, Hayes and Paulino, the team
decided to make a roster move. Brad Davis was brought in from Triple-A to
replace Hayes.
因為馬大魚只有帶兩個捕手(Hayes和Paulino)，隊上決定從3A拉上Brad Davis來取代
Hayes。
After the game, Hayes had an X-ray taken. It came back negative.
在這場比賽後，Hayes就去照了X光，結果傳來的卻是壞消息。
Within a few days, he should begin baseball activities. Because he is out at
least 15 days, he will have plenty of time to rest.
實際上，在幾天內Hayes應該就可以開始進行棒球相關活動。但因為Hayes被放進15天傷兵
名單，他有更多的時間可以來休息。
Davis arrived from Triple-A where he had only blue colored catcher's gear.
Hayes had an extra pair of black gear, which he is lending Davis in the short
term.
另外，Davis剛從3A過來時還只有帶藍色的捕手護具。而剛好Hayes有帶另外一套比較小的
、黑色的捕手護具，於是就順便借給Davis。(要不然捕手就要開天窗啦!)
(個人感想:感人小故事啊...o(〒﹏〒)o 雖然小聯盟成績不出色，今天上場四次無安打
還被三振一次，還是祝Brad Davis能站穩大聯盟~
嗯?問我為什麼沒翻咖個冷的部分...好累啊...反正他今天重回一棒，2打數
1安打2BB表現很不錯就對了(′_>`) )
