He's launched jumpers from the baseline, the top of the circle, the elbow, below the free-throw line, and every now and then, even a little hook. His role has been to rebound and defend, and he’s done both well. While the Mavs continue to search for low-post scoring, that’s not how Johnson envisions the 280-pounder as most effective. Diop said he wants to stay with the Mavs beyond this season and hopes he improves enough this summer to become a starter again, a job he seized in 2005-06, but lost back to Erick Dampier last season. "Even though my shot’s not falling, I’m getting better,” Diop said. “I’m getting into game shape.
