Casey Kelly, RHP 2010 Rank: 28 Drafted: 2008, 1st (30) ETA in Majors: 2012 Statistically speaking: Not a lot went right statistically for Kelly in 2010, but he did buckle down when he got in serious trouble. When he got stuck in a bases-loaded situation, hitters went just 2-for-9 (.222), both singles. Scouting report: Pitching full-time for the first time helped Kelly's pure stuff. His fastball gained a tick or two on the radar gun, sitting comfortably at 92 mph. He's got a plus curve, at 77-81 mph, and an average changeup, thrown 81-84 mph. Considering it was his first season of not splitting time between shortstop and the mound, he's got very good pitchability. He didn't command the baseball in 2010 as well as he can, but that shouldn't be a concern going forward. Upside potential: Still new to pitching, it's hard to put a ceiling on him, but a very good No. 3 or solid No. 2 is reasonable. They said it: "We have to make this kind of move and get the prospects. ... If we don't, we could look back later on and feel like we really sold our future short." -- Padres GM Jed Hoyer after the Adrian Gonzalez trade He said it: "If you have a 1.00 ERA in the Minor Leagues, it really doesn't matter much. A lot of times last year, I had so much success that I really didn't have to deal with failure. I'd much rather deal with failure here than in the big leagues." -- in the Portland Press Herald http://0rz.tw/CMAO0 -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 61.227.214.180
