It's been a long trip. I've been at six workouts in the last eight days. I'll get a day off now (on where he'll be taken in the draft) They've just kind of told me second round. It's kind of a crap-shoot, so you never know. A lot of it depends on these workouts and the Chicago camp. (on the workouts being different for each team) No, not very much. It’s a lot of the same stuff. 2-on-2, ball-handling drills, agility....Each team throws in a couple of things of their own. (on the travel) It wears on you a little bit. I actually still don't know where my luggage is. I cam from New Jersey to Atlanta to here and they still haven't found my luggage. I actually had to borrow some of their shoes and stuff today. My feet are a little sore but other than that it's been all right. AL JEFFERSON - 6-10, 265 lbs. Prentiss High School (Prentiss, MS) (on how important the workouts are) It's real important for me to come out here and show everybody what I can do, especially since I'm coming out of high school. (on how good he feels about his game) I feel like I'm confident right now, but there's always room for improvement. I feel like I can work hard every day on something. (on how big the step up will be to the NBA) It's going to be a big step up but, once again, that's where the hard work comes in. You've got to work hard, every day to be the best. It's going to be a big step up. It'll be a good challenge for me. (on what made him decide to go straight to the NBA) I feel like there was nothing wrong with me testing the waters. Everybody was saying I could be a first round pick. I feel like there's nothing wrong with that because that's the whole point of going to college, to get your education and make money. I feel like if I can do that, getting paid for something I love to do. There’s nothing wrong with that. There's always time for you to go back and get your education. RICKY MINARD - 6-4, 200 lbs. Morehead State University (on how important the workouts are to get his name out) Your goal every time you come out to a workout is to be the best player in the workout, regardless of what conference you come from. Knowing that I can play on the level that these guys participate on is a big thing for me. (on how much teams know about him) They're starting to know a lot more than during the (college) season. (on what types of skill he's looking to display) I'm really trying to market myself as a scorer and also as a point guard, more of a combo guard. Me being only 6-4 and a half, I think that's a good position for me right now. (on how many workouts he's been on) This is my 11th in the past 18-19 days. (It's been wearing on me) a little bit, but it's something you've got to do. When you're chasing your dream, you've got to give up something. My body is what it is right now. (on skills he needs to improve) (Teams have said) I need to work on get better at basic things. My game, overall, I'm sure needs to get better. I think personally my catch-and-shoot skills. I need to develop that a little more. (on where he's projected) Probably early second round. Late first. We'll just have to wait and see. CHRIS DUHON - 6-1, 185 lbs. Duke University (on how it feels to workout for hometown NBA team) It feels good. It's a dream come true to come out and get the opportunity to workout for the Hornets. I think I did a pretty good job so we'll see what happens. (on what skills he's trying to show during the workouts) Just showing them my aggressiveness, that I can be an offensive threat and scorer and that I can shoot the ball. That's the only thing I'm really concerned about. I think that everyone knows I can defend, I can run the team, I know how to play this game. So they just want to see me be more assertive on the offensive end. (on having college game translate to the pros) I feel as though I am able to compete in the NBA and this is what I'm going to do: Go out and prove to everybody that I can. (on his relationship with Coach Krzyzewski and being one of Coach K's favorites) Just because we went through a lot of wars and battles together. The whole four years was a great experience for us. We had a lot of adversity that we fought together and I think that just got us closer. He did a lot for me and I just thank him for everything he has done for me. (on the toughest adjustment) Knowing that you're playing 82 games and that there's nights when you'll play three, four games in a row on a road trip so you're coming off the plane. Right now, I've been traveling around and it's starting to wear on me so it's about me getting into more physical shape and be able to overcome the fatigue of just flying everywhere. (on how big a dream this is) Just the opportunity to come and workout for this team has just been great and I just thank a lot of people who have helped me to get to this point and hopefully we can make it to the next level and complete the dream. (on how he has been preparing for the draft workout process) I've been training real hard. I've been training up in Chicago and in Tampa and just getting the most out of my ability and not peaking at the wrong time. I've just steadily climbing and climbing and when it's time for me to make my peak, I'll be ready. (on if he's talked to old teammates on advice) They just told me to go out and work hard. They know I'm confident in my abilities and they just told me to show my personality and that's going to get me a long way. HORNETS ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER ALLAN BRISTOW (on what Chris Duhon could bring to an NBA team) You look at his program and how far he's come. He's a local guy from Slidell and I think you just see that everybody that's ever been around Chris is just in awe of his presence, his leadership and the way he plays basketball. He's a good basketball player. (on if those intangibles transfer from college to pros) I think he could be on any team, probably in any sport, any corporation....He's just the kind of guy who would excel anywhere he goes and anywhere he might be going. (on what he saw in Al Jefferson) You can see the potential there. He's a player that you've got to look at some of the successful high school players that are playing in the Playoffs now that he's got potential to be one of those kind of players. How fast he gets there and what path he takes is sometimes hard to figure out. (on if he's been interviewed yet for the Hornets openings) Actually, we've been so busy with our players. It's been so hectic as far as scheduling out players. We had 16 players in this week. We've got some more players coming in next week and then we go to Chicago. It's just going to be tough to fit a lot of things in that you want to do at this time of year. We’ve got our coaching search still going on and it's very difficult to have the time right now. (on the role he's played in the search) I've been doing what I've been doing since I got here and that's assisting Bob Bass and I've certainly got some duties like scheduling these players coming in for the workouts and also coming in for the coaching search. My hands are in everything but I'm usually the second tier. (on if they've completed interviewing all the candidates for the coaching job) That's a tough question. I don't think we're going to say we are finished until we get our coach. I think we continue to leave that open until we make an announcement. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 218.166.76.6
