When you’ve made up your mind to do something, you can go at it full gusto and with no holds barred. What did they do? They listened to the crickets chirping. Then, in August, they signed Chase Utley to a two-year, $27 million deal with those ever-popular vesting options. Oh, they’re keeping the club together. On August 31st, they made a waiver deal to send Michael Young to the Dodgers for Rob Rasmussen (since dealt to Toronto in the Brad Lincoln trade). Nothing good has happened since then and now, they’re coming off a four-game home sweep at the hands of the Atlanta Braves and are buried 8 1/2 games behind the Braves and a full ten games under the .500 mark. But, this morning on the WIP Morning Show, Amaro explained that he still hasn’t made a decision. “We’ll have a much better idea at the All-Star Break,” Amaro told host Angelo Cataldi. Things are going to have to change. Right now, we’re not playing like contenders. The Phillies are now 25-36 and 7 GB in NL East. June 10: Amaro is back on the WIP Morning Show: “A lot of these players have brought some great baseball to us, perhaps that great baseball that they once played is a little behind us. The bottom line is we have to do what is best for the organization and at the same time, we have to realize the fan base does connect with a lot of these guys. Every single day we have to asses whether or not we should add to this group or if we should start moving some of the group and some of the pieces to get better in the long term. I will tell you that if we start to do that [sell], we’re going to have to be accepting of the fact that it’s going to be a bit of a struggle for a little while. How long? I don’t know, but if we start to do that we are going to be relying on younger players who are not as seasoned and may not be prepared to play the type of baseball that a championship club may require.” 6月9號︰客場六連戰打完結果是悲慘的1勝5敗，此時落後國東龍頭7場勝差，無能GM表示︰隊上很多球員在過去給了我們美好的球季，也許這些美好的球季就在不久的將來還能重現 FO會做出對球隊最好的改變，但大家要知道某些球員真的有fan base，每一天FO都在思考要買還是要賣這回事，但一旦決定要賣，就得要接受年輕化的費城將不會是冠軍隊伍，而拍賣之後球隊會掙扎多久，我不知道 June 13: Coming off a three-game home sweep of San Diego, Amaro talks to the media: “We think about it [the deadline] every day. We assess it every day, and we’re preparing for how to do those things. It’s not like we’re not preparing. If we have to go backwards to go forward, then we’re prepared to do that, too.” 6月13號︰在主場橫掃教士之後，無能GM表示︰ FO每天都在思考、每天都在評估、每天都在準備在交易大限之前要怎麼做 June 16 – 20: The Phillies go on a five-game road win streak and are 3 1/2 GB on the morning of June 21. June 23: The Phillies lose the last two games in St. Louis and return home for a series with the Miami Marlins. Amaro has the following update: “I’ve had pretty constant dialogue [with other GMs]. Right now, we’re in a little bit of a limbo, as you could imagine, because we’ve played better baseball. We just have to continue to assess what we have and what we need going forward. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. A lot of it depends on what the players show me and the health of the players as we get closer to the deadline.” Speaking with USA TODAY, Amaro says… “Everybody figured that after this road trip, we’d be done. People figured we’d be selling, and we’ll be breaking this team up. If they keep playing the way they can play, who knows, we might be thinking about adding at the deadline. These next several weeks are important to us because we will find out a lot more about where we stand.” 在6月16號到20號客場五連勝，6月21號早上與國東龍頭勝差僅剩3.5場然後在6月23號球隊對紅鳥連敗2場，回到主場打馬林魚的時候，無能GM表示︰我和其它球隊的GM們一直有在連繫，但現在球隊處於一種中間狀態，因為我們過去才剛打了5連勝的好球，FO還是會繼續評估在731大限之前要怎麼操作，很多時候這取決球隊戰績和球員健康狀況，前幾天的客場五連勝大家也看到了，大家都說我們是賣家、會大拍賣，如果球隊持續像前幾天打這麼好，誰知道FO會怎麼做呢～變買家都很有可能喔～看接下來幾週球隊戰績如何FO在決定吧～ July 1: After winning just two of their last ten games, Amaro is back on the WIP Morning Show and says the following… “We’ll have a much better idea at the all-star break” on whether he should buy or sell. In our marketplace, and with what our fan base is all about, I don’t think [a total rebuild] is fair. I don’t think it’s fair to them. I don’t think it’s fair to our organization. I don’t think it’s fair to the players on the field.” 然後到了近十戰2勝8敗、落後國東龍頭勝差8.5場的7月1號早上，無能GM表示︰到了明星賽休戰期間對於當買家或賣家FO才會有更準確的想法，在費城市場上fan base是很重要的考量，而且我認為大拍賣對球迷、球團、還有場上的球員都是不公平的 Is it fair to the fans to keep running a failing team out there without doing anything to improve the club for the future? 那麼繼續讓這失敗的球隊繼續爛下去而不替球隊的未來設想做改變對球迷是公平的嗎？ Is it fair to want to hang on to players because of what they’ve done in the past for this franchise? 就因為過去的功勞繼續留住這些老將打出這種戰績對球團的股東們又是公平的嗎？ Is it fair to players who are nearing the end of their careers to keep them in a losing situation when they might have the opportunity for another World Series ring? 繼續任其留在這種一直輸球的球隊裡而不讓他們去有競爭冠軍戒指實力的球隊，對於己經在生涯末期的老將們又是公平的嗎？ It’s all about passion. This team has zero passion on the field and the front office has zero passion about what they’re going to do to improve the team for the future. Fans are smart enough to realize that it’s no longer about this season. This team simply can’t compete. There’s not going to be a post-season in Philadelphia this fall and for God sake, stop thinking about a parade down Broad Street. Not happening! 完全就是有沒有心的問題而已，球隊在場上打球的樣子不用心、FO也沒有心在替未來著想球迷們心裡都知道2014球季早就居居，知道這球隊沒有競爭力的事實，不會有什麼季後賽更不會有什麼冠軍遊行 This team needs a reboot and the best the front office – from Dave Montgomery on down – is willing to give us is a half-assed attempt at making the team better. Think long, think wrong.
