The Rangers agreed with Darren O'Day on a 2011 contract for $1.251
million on Sunday, reducing the number of remaining arbitration
cases to two. Josh Hamilton and Frank Francisco still are unsigned.
The agreement with O'Day is within $26,000 of the midpoint between
figures exchanged by the team and the player's agent. The Rangers
had offered $1.05 million; O'Day had requested $1.4 million. The
mid-point would have been $1.225 million.
Over the last two seasons, O'Day's 1.94 ERA ranks fourth in the
majors among the 119 qualifying relievers. His opponents' on-base
percentage of .260, ranks 11th in the majors.
