Hamburg, 19 May 2006 Press Conference with TOMMY ROBREDO Robredo - Ferrer 7:6 (10:8), 6:4 Q: What did you think in the tiebreak at the point 1:6 behind? ROBREDO: Well not much. I tried to put the ball inside and not let him finish the set. I just was thinking not in the second set and let him the chance to me and he did it. Till 6:5 it was good points and he made the double. Then I served 7:6 and then bad going for me. Then it was 8 all, I made an unbelievable ball and finally could win the 1st set. Then the second I get advantage at the beginning. Then he broke me back. Finally I could break him in the last game. Q: Is it hard for you to play against such a good friend of you? ROBREDO: Well, it's life of tennis. It's tough always to play against a guy that you really like him to him. But obviously today I preferred me to win than him. Well, it's difficult but anyway when both of us we are good friends, it's like when there is a ball that is a doubt you just look and say what do you think. Then after you finish, it's sorry I beat you. Hopefully, maybe I was not play against you and we could play the final. I think it was a great match, one of the best matches of the day. It was such a bad luck for us to play one against the other. But sometimes the draw is like this and we have to play quarter finals. Q: When you are going together to dinner here in Hamburg, you and David, you are talking about tennis then? ROBREDO: Well, sometimes. Sometimes before to play one match against another player, I just ask him 'hey, what do you think, I have to play', because it's like we know each other. But we talk about tennis, about life, about any stupid things, soccer. It's like when we are out of work we do the same as you do when you go out of work. No difference. Q: At the moment the ATP is publishing a Blog of you. Do you write it by yourself? ROBREDO: Well, I'm just saying what I want to be there in the Blog and she's doing it, or we are doing it with the guy in US that I'm talking with by the phone. Q: Is it okay for you that everybody can read how you manage your clothes problems for example in the bathroom? ROBREDO: For me it doesn't matter. If I would be a fan of tennis I would love to know a lot more things what players do, what players think than not all the things they do on the court. Obviously a thing like this is good because you can say things that you want, things that you want people know about you. For me I don't care the people know that I'm tidy with everything. I just leave the clothes on the toilet because I just want all the clothes to get dry. Obviously it's the only part in the room that I can put it. I thought it was funny to say that in one side I'm so good and in the other side, I'm just doing this to clean the rest of the room. For example I would love to know what Tiger Woods do before the match or what Shaqueel O'Neal is doing before the match, maybe getting a beer, listening to music or making weights. I think it's nice we are starting to do this thing this year. Obviously it's giving me good luck. Because it's the first time in my life I'm doing this and I'm doing so well and I'm in the semi-finals. If I win the tournament maybe I'm going to ask next week to do it again. Q: Do you get much attention from Spain about the Blog? ROBREDO: Some friends just call me and say 'Jesus, you speak about me today'. I don't want to put 8 pages every day. Because if not I take all the messenger things I did and put it on the Blog. A lot of people is watching that. It was funny because the lady who drove me from the airport to the city make a few mistakes. She was going to get the car on the 6th floor, it was on the 5th, then on the 4th and then on the 3rd and finally on the 2nd. And I write it on the Blog and the 3rd day I saw her, she just come to me and say 'I'm so sorry about what I did'. I said 'I'm sorry, I was just joking about that. I was just saying what happened because I thought it's funny.' We also have delays on the planes and we miss sometimes like this. And people like this say, oh I'm sorry, what happen to all the Brasilian ladies. All the people is asking me things now. I think it's nice. And people of the crowd, when I finish practising say 'I love your Blog'. I think it's nice, not just I like how you play but I like what you say in the Blog. Q: It's not too private for you. You also speak about Gisele Dulko for example? ROBREDO: I think that it's published. They know that we broke up. I admire her a lot. And I know. But it's part of my life. I'm single. Sometimes it's hard to do things like that. Obviously I wrote more than that but finally we didn't put everything because it was long. I know, it's hard. She was a really nice girl and we had to break up because I wasn't ready to keep travelling like this and keep going with the relationship. I think it was nice for the people to know. Q: Did people ever get angry with you when you wrote about them? ROBREDO: I think I didn't do nothing bad. No. You can finish one match and say, fuck, how can I lose to this guy. But you are not doing that because of him, but because of you. Always when you lose, you say, fuck what the hell I did. Maybe the other one is better than you. But that is what you think and that is what the people want to know I think. And sometimes they ask like today 'what happened in the tiebreak?' I don't know, he missed not me. It's part of the game. 'Were you nervous?' No I was just thinking on the second set. There are things that people don't know and obviously would like to know. I would like to know what maybe Tiger Woods thinks before to make the last putt on the Masters. Maybe if you ask him you will get impressed. Maybe he's thinking in colours or of putting the ball inside or maybe he's singing a song. It's like this. Q: What's your opinion about the surface here in Hamburg? Is it the slowest clay court you ever played? ROBREDO: Well, it's raining everyday. It's tough to have a great court with good bounce and it's tough to be fast of course. But if you ask me if I like, of course. It's my second time in semis and every time I played here I played okay. Yes, I like it. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 140.119.141.81 ※ 編輯: Emily212 來自: 140.119.141.81 (05/20 23:37)
