One would think that would be a prerequisite for even raising the subject, or else one might give the impression that he or she was merely trying to fill space. 專欄上討論 "Alex Rodriguez 關鍵時刻沒有表現也不值那個薪水" 之類的文章，我已經看太多了，不過我從沒看過有人提出實際的替代方案，或者試著提出 "誰才是洋基應該找的三壘手"的論點。任何想評論 A-Rod 是否適任那份工作或是值得那份薪水的人，前提都是提出建設性的建議，要不然只會給人無病呻吟的感覺。 It's a bit tiresome to see Rodriguez measured against his immense salary as if it were meaningful. It's an important consideration as far as the Yankees' internal budget calculations go, and for those of us interested in the art of team building, trying to figure out if a club is getting return on its investment a player旧 performance vs. his salary is worth studying. That旧 as far as it goes; for the consumer/Yankees fan, the only thing that matters is his performance. In that context, the fan may or may not think that Rodriguez is helping the Yankees, but his salary shouldn't enter the discussion. 每次看到 Rodriguez 的表現因為他天價的薪資而被嚴苛地評價是否值得，我都感到疲憊。當然，對於想要了解球團是否能夠從對球員身上的投資取得回報，以及計算洋基內部財務狀況來說，球員表現及其薪資是否對等是值得研究的。但也僅止於此。對於消費者或是洋基球迷來說，最重要的就是球員的表現。也就是說，球迷們不管認不認同 Rodriguez 對球隊的幫助，他的薪水都不該列入討論的一部份。 After all, compared to you and me (and teachers, policemen, soldiers, and so on) all athletes are overpaid.
