June 21, 2006 http://0rz.net/a91hZ I can't believe that we're already through with one third of the season! 我不敢相信我們已經結束3 分之1 的球季了！ We returned to Interleague Play last week, continuing through next week into July. I am looking forward to this long homestand. 我們上禮拜回到跨聯盟的賽程，這將會一直打到7月。我正期待著之後回到洋基球場的比賽。 For the first time in my career, I played in our nation's capital, Washington, D.C. There is a lot of baseball history in Washington, as two different Senators franchises played there until 1961. Until the Montreal Expos relocated to D.C. and became the Nationals in 2005, Washington hadn't had a Major League franchise in 34 years. Unfortunately the schedule wouldn't allow me any time to tour the city. Cynthia was able to take Natasha to the National Zoo, as well as the area surrounding the White House and the other National Monuments. They had a great time. I'm so lucky that my job allows me to provide opportunities like that for Natasha. She's not even two yet, and she's seen some of the most amazing things this country has to offer. Although the travel schedule can be grueling, I am glad we can spend so much time together and do things as a family. 我想要好好的在華盛頓參觀一下。不幸的是緊湊的賽程不允許我有閒暇的時間去遊覽城市。我老婆把我女兒帶到國家動物園，也去了白宮附近和其它國家紀念碑。他們很閑。我很慶幸我的工作能為我女兒提供那樣的機會。她不到兩歲，卻已經看過這個國家提供的一些令人驚嘆的景物。雖然客場比賽很累人，但我高興我們能一起度過那麼多時間並且為家庭做些事情。 After the series with the Nationals, we traveled to Philadelphia for a three-game series against the Phillies. Since Washington and Philadelphia are so close, Cynthia and I decided to drive. Although I have basically been on the road since 1996, I never really get a chance to see anything but the cities themselves. So, we loaded our stuff into a coach and made the trip together. Natasha watched cartoons and we were able to eat dinner and talk during the whole trip. Usually I travel with the team and everyone else has to travel separately from me, so it was a nice change. We need to play solid baseball the next couple of weeks against the National League. Joe Torre was a National League player his entire career and has that mentality when he manages. With sluggers like Hideki Matsui and Gary Sheffield out of our lineup, we have to adapt to playing our version of small ball -- making good contact, bunting, moving runners along and taking the extra base when we can to manufacture runs. This was my second Father's Day, and I celebrated with Cynthia and Natasha. We all have responsibilities and pressures in our lives, but nothing is more important than family.
