Rodriguez has 491 homers and does not turn 32 until July 27. If Rodriguez retired on his 40th birthday and averaged 35 homers a season between now and then, he would total more than 770. That is a terrific "if," of course. Ken Griffey Jr. was supposed to obliterate Henry Aaron's record until injuries derailed his career. Bonds always speaks fondly about Rodriguez and said this season he hopes the Yankees third baseman breaks his home-run records someday. Giants manager Bruce Bochy would not be against Rodriguez capturing the all-time record. "I saw a lot of him when he was with Seattle," Bochy said. "We shared the same spring-training complex. He's an unbelievable talent. He's a great hitter who uses all fields and has tremendous power. The question is, can he, or whoever approaches the record, sustain that? If anybody can, he can. He's so consistent with his power and he's such a healthy guy.
