lex Rodriguez is out of the lineup again Tuesday, three days after experiencing stiffness in his left side during Saturday's game.
The Yankees' third baseman has now missed two starts since being removed from the seventh inning of a 5-2 win over the Rangers on Saturday at Yankee Stadium, one where he took himself out as a precaution.
A-Rod then had an MRI on Sunday that came back clean. While still feeling sore in his left oblique/lower back/rib-cage area that day, Rodriguez said he probably suffered the injury while swinging but felt it most on a diving stop Saturday.
He said Sunday that he hoped to return Tuesday or Wednesday in Toronto and didn't believe he'd have to go on the disabled list, saying: "I'd like to think that I pulled myself out, hopefully with the perfect timing."
The 35-year-old is batting .385 with four homers and nine RBIs through 12 games this season. Taking his place in the lineup for the series opener against the Blue Jays is Eric Chavez, who came up with the game-winning hit on Sunday. New York had an off-day on Monday.
