Originally built as a circuit to host Formula One Grand Prix, the track was completed in 1994. Despite its facilities, the track has never hosted a Formula One event, and predominantly holds bike racing and Asian Formula 3 races. The circuit is fast and wide, allowing for many different racing lines which provide overtaking manoeuvres. The heat and humidity mean that this is a tough and tiring circuit for the drivers, the 36 lap feature race is a particular challenge. Last year’s races provided an exciting spectacle, with A1 Team France taking victory in the Sprint race after overtaking pole sitter Robbie Kerr on the first lap. The Feature race saw a surprise result, with Canada’s Sean McIntosh finishing on the top step of the podium, despite starting last on the grid, and suffering a driver through penalty.
