Kuznetsova pulls out of Pilot Pen (WTNH, Aug. 20, 2005) _ Lots going on today as we prepare for the main draw to begin today. Svetlana Kuznetsova pulling out of the women's draw is a big hit for the tournament. The 2004 US Open Champion from Russia has won more than $2 million in prize money and more than 60 singles match wins. Marat Safin is out of the men's draw. Tournament officials making it official earlier today. Safin is suffering from a bad knee and he wants to rest up to try and play in the US Open next week. Safin who was given a wild car earlier this week was replaced by Justin Gimblestadt. After the disappointing news of Safin's withdrawal, tournament organizers moved forward with the men's draw. The top four seeds are now set, they are Nikolai Davydenko, Fernando Gonzalez, Ferrer, and Tommy Rabredo. The rest of the draw put together by marty fish and some of his friends. Fish passed the crystal around full of chips. Then players were put into the bracket. Fish who hasn't played in three months due to a wrist injury says he's looking forward to getting on the court and his friend James blake suggested he get to New Haven early cause there's lots to do. More qualifying action going on today. The tournament before the tournament. Four spots up for grabs in the women's draw.
