Spalletti: Reggina tougher than Milan

Luciano Spalletti’s Roma are fresh from beating Milan, but the Coach insists to
morrow’s game with Reggina holds more dangers.
“It’ll be tougher than Sunday’s match and we’ll need quality to get the best
result,” claimed the tactician. “It’s a more difficult situation for the pla
yers, as they need another approach. Reggina aren’t coming here to win and won
’t allow us any space.”
It has been a tough couple of years for the Giallorossi, who have been through f
ive Coaches since Fabio Capello’s departure and seen Antonio Cassano sold to Re
al Madrid after months of tension.
“When I arrived here I didn’t find too many difficulties. I lost time trying t
o explore different tactical scenarios, but things developed and we must stick t
o a system we believe in if we are to progress. There’s still room for improvem
ent.”
The capital club is looking for its fourth consecutive victory on Wednesday even
ing despite the fact Francesco Totti has been used as a makeshift centre-forward
with Vincenzo Montella and Shabani Nonda out injured.
“Success depends on the willingness of your players to band together,” continu
ed the former Udinese boss. “Difficulties can create unity and some little deta
ils have changed for the better. For example, after the win over Milan, Totti ca
lled everyone together under the Curva Sud to salute the fans. Such activities d

There has been tension throughout the squad with reports of factions splitting u
p in the Totti-Cassano dynamic and a move to Juventus on the cards for Amantino
Mancini.
“He is training hard and will be an added bonus for this side,” Spalletti said
of Sunday’s goalscorer. “If he can make the most of his qualities, then he ca
n make the difference in any team. At the moment everything is under control, as
he has a good contract. I won’t dictate transfer policy to the club, but I thi
nk it’s best not to let go of great players.”
Reggina only lost out to leaders Juventus by an Alessandro Del Piero wonder goal
at the weekend and aim to create even more problems for Roma. Captain Ciccio Co
zza returns from suspension to bolster the attack and Giacomo Tedesco takes a ce
ntral midfield position.
