The Chilean joined the Giallorossi last summer in a co-ownership deal and had made it clear that he was keen on staying at the Stadio Olimpico. The two clubs seemed set for a blind auction, but a deal was finalised last night after a meeting between Inter official Lele Oriali and Roma sporting director Daniele Pradè. “AS Roma and FC Internazionale have announced that they have reached an agreement for the consensual rescission of the co-ownership of David Marcelo Cortes Pizarro, starting from July 1, 2007,” read the capital club's official statement. “Roma will pay ￡4.1m to Inter, excluding VAT, in three annual instalments.” Pizarro's stay in Rome opens the door to Cristian Chivu's move to the San Siro, as the Romanian's transfer had temporarily stalled because of the midfielder's position.
