Doni – 8.5: Single-handedly kept Roma in the game with a string of fine
saves, including two world class stops from Tedesco and Morimoto.
Cassetti – 6: Struggled at times against Vargas, although he didn’t
disgrace himself against one of the best left-footers in Italy.
Mexes – 7: Made a number of crucial interventions, and saved Panucci’s skin
on more than a few occasions.
Panucci – 5: Showed leadership qualities, but made a string of errors that
should have been punished, and was at fault for at least three golden Catania
chances.
Tonetto – 6.5: A steady game from Tonetto. Not troubled much defensively,
and made the rare burst forward. A consistent performer this season.
De Rossi – 6.5: Did okay in the first half, but his head seemed to drop when
he heard that Inter had taken the lead in Parma.
Pizarro – 5.5: The Chilean just doesn’t do it for me. Always stylish, but
too often there is no substance in his game, and he just doesn’t protect the
Roma defence at all, especially in away games.
Mancini – 5: Aside from one chance in the first half, Mancini was
desperately poor this afternoon. Made almost no impact on what could be his
last-ever Serie A game for the club.
Aquilani – 5: Confirmed just how under-par he has been over the past several
weeks. Was invisible in midfield, showing no personality. It would not
surprise me if he is omitted from the squad for Euro 2008.
Perrotta – 6: Worked hard as usual, and was the only player at least trying
to support Vucinic, but ultimately not one of his better games.
Vucinic – 8.5: The only outfield player who turned up for Roma this
afternoon. Despite being isolated, he oozed class every time he touched the
ball, and his solo goal to put the Giallorossi ahead was one of the goals of
the season.
