Roma captain Francesco Totti returned to the training pitch this afternoon
and he insists all is going well with his recovery.
Er Purpone ruptured his right knee ligaments several weeks ago in the 1-1
draw with Livorno which saw him miss the final season showdown with Inter.
The former Italy playmaker had surgery and he has been recovering well. He
returned to the training pitch today to work with the football and his knee
coped well as he put it through its paces with several strenuous exercises.
“Returning to the training pitch is a beautiful feeling,” Totti told Sky
Sport Italia.
“We have to wait and see how everything goes but so far, so good.
“Hopefully I will be back for the Supercoppa against Inter as that is my
objective.”
The Roma legend also had a few words for Jose Mourinho who has taken the
reigns at the Nerazzurri.
“He (Mourinho) is a great coach and he has a great side at his disposal,”
said Totti.
“I hope Inter don’t make too many important acquisitions.”
Roma finished runners-up in Serie A but they did beat Inter to hold onto
their Coppa Italia crown
Totti will be hoping his rapid recovery continues in time for the new season
as Roma look to mount a serious scudetto challenge.
