Professor Antonio Del Monte believes he has the answer to Francesco Totti’s
miracle recovery from a serious knee injury and the medic insists it was down
to sheer determination.
The Giallorossi ace was crocked during Roma’s draw with Livorno last season.
He suffered severe damage to his ligaments but he has made an astonishing
recovery since his operation in June.
Everyone has been baffled by the speed at which the 2006 World Cup winner has
made a mend but Del Monte, who is a joint founder of the institute of
medicine and science for sport, believes he knows the answer.
“Compared to others, Totti is helped by the fact that he is not a mercenary,
” Del Monte told Il Romanista.
“He is Roma and he feels a fundamental part of the group and that is why he
gives his maximum even when he is recovering from injury.
“Character is also a determining factor both in a positive and negative
sense.”
Totti has taken four months to make a complete recovery and he may even face
Palermo this weekend.
Roma doctor Mario Brozzi said Er Pupone’s speedy return is a ‘new record’.
Reports in Italy suggest Inter have asked I Lupi for the secret behind their
player's recovery.
