Panucci’s Brother: Christian Leaving Because Roma Planned It
Christian Panucci looks set to depart the Italian capital in the near future
and his sibling has not been slow to shift the blame firmly on the club.
Christian Panucci may leave Roma this week after falling out with coach
Luciano Spalletti last Sunday. The defender was omitted from the starting XI
for the game with Napoli and refused to sit on the bench. He later announced
his decision to quit the Lupi.
“It would not surprise me if he left Roma and it would be the best thing for
him,” Patrick Panucci told Sportal.it.
“We talked about it and he said he was considering his next move. He did not
have ready-made solutions, but he will soon find one.”
There were reports yesterday that the 35-year-old could re-join Milan where
he plied his trade from 1993 to 1997.
“He did not mention Milan,” revealed his brother. “His actions were
certainly wrong, but it’s important to understand the reasons behind them.
“I think the club had it all planned out and their decision to not renew his
contract must have annoyed Christian.
“My brother has always accepted the coach’s decisions in the past, so it is
pretty evident that there are other things beneath the surface in this case.”
