Roma’s Francesco Totti Gunning To Face Palermo
Er Pupone is confident of returning to action tomorrow night and has reiterated
that fourth place is a target that his Roma side cannot afford to miss.
Francesco Totti has been sidelined since the game in Catania on December 21
when he limped off with a right thigh strain.
He was expected to feature in the match with Napoli last weekend but he sat on
the bench instead as coach Luciano Spalletti deemed he was not 100 per cent fit
to start.
"Of course, it is not pleasing to stay on the bench, but the boss explained
his choices and they turned out to be correct,” the Roma skipper writes in
the Corriere dello Sport.
“Every player must aspire to take to the field - this is only natural - but
I put the disappointment behind me and just focused on spurring on my
teammates.”
The Lupi demolished Napoli 3-0 at the San Paolo and are now just three points
off the Champions League places ahead of the midweek game with Palermo.
“I want to congratulate my teammates as they controlled the game from start
to finish,” continued Totti.
“I hope to play against Palermo tomorrow, because I am in good shape. There
is still a long way to go in the league, but we cannot miss our target which
is the fourth place.
“Our position in the table has improved now. We don’t need to set
objectives, we’ll just take things one game at a time, and then we will see
if something better lies ahead for us.”
