Spalletti pays the price
Roma boss Luciano Spalletti has been handed a one-match ban for insulting the
officials during the Giallorossi's 3-3 draw with Inter.
The capital club were controversially held by the leaders after Mario
Balotelli seemed to dive to win a penalty.
Spalletti was livid after the final whistle and his angry outbursts have cost
him a match in the stands.
“Spalletti is banned for protesting against the referee with insulting
expressions after the game,” judge Gianpaolo Tosel confirmed.
Roma were also fined ￡7,500 for racist insults directed at Balotelli by
their fans.
“On two occasions in the second half, Roma supporters sang racially
discriminative songs aimed at an opposing player,” Tosel explained.
Meanwhile, Lecce's Luca Ariatti faces a three-game ban and 13 others,
including Juventus defender Nicola Legrottaglie and Inter midfielder Patrick
Vieira were given one-game suspensions.
