Roma Captain Francesco Totti: Kick Mario Balotelli Up The Backside!
The Giallorossi talisman has hit out at the 19-year-old hitman, stating that
he needs to be taught some strict discipline.
Inter striker Mario Balotelli caused controversy last weekend as he
repeatedly quarrelled with Roma players and, after tucking away a
highly-contested penalty, he even took the mickey out the visiting Lupi
supporters.
“Us players have a behavioural code; we can even kick out at each other but
we always have to respect opposing fans,” Francesco Totti writes in the
Corriere dello Sport.
“I have made several mistakes in the past, towards opposition players and
supporters, but I have always made amends and paid for it.
“It cannot be tolerated that a young player like Balotelli, who has great
technical and physical qualities, perseveres with such behaviour towards
team-mates, opposing players and fans.”
‘Er Pupone’ went on to recall an episode that occurred during the
Supercoppa Italiana final last August.
“Balotelli was about to take a corner kick and I heard him mutter, ‘Shi***
Romans,’” revealed Totti.
“These kinds of insults should not happen but they regularly do. He even
derided my team-mates, who were just trying to defend our supporters.
“If I had behaved like Balotelli when I was 19, my then team-mates
[Giovanni] Cervone and [Giuseppe] Giannini would have kicked me. [Coach
Carlo] Mazzone would have slapped me around and my parents would have
finished the job. There are other ways to bring up youngsters.”
