The Giallorossi are in some financial difficulty and need new capital if they are to remain competitive in Serie A and Europe. Italpetroli, the company run by the Sensi family, which has a majority stake in Roma, are in over ￡300m worth of debt. Roma were recently the subject of a bid from the German based Flick family, but those reports have since been denied. The Sensi family are reluctant to give up the club, but would be tempted to do so if an Italian offer presented itself. Roma famously rejected a takeover bid from Russian Oil Company Nafta Moskva in 2004, insisting the club would stay in Roman control. “I am thinking about giving a hand to Roma, hopefully by entering into ownership of 50 per cent of the club,” Angelini told Il Corriere. “In my house we are all Romanisti and in this sense we are not going through a good period.” When asked if he was referring to the club or the team, Angelini replied: “ To everything. We are upset by what is happening to the point that some ideas have come to me. “I am looking to understand more [about the club's situation].
