Jeremy Menez Hints At Roma Exit
The Frenchman admits he will talk to the club and is not certain of his stay
in the Eternal City.
Jeremy Menez ended his maiden season in Serie A with a wonder goal yesterday
as Roma came from behind to overcome Torino 3-2 at the Olimpico, however, the
Frenchman does not know if his future lies with the Lupi.
It was the 22-year-old’s fourth strike in the league, but it could have also
been his final appearance in a Giallorossi shirt.
“I don’t know if I’ll stay, I have to talk with the club,” Menez is
quoted as saying in Il Tempo.
“I have yet to make a decision, but it does not depend on [coach Luciano]
Spalletti’s future. I will have a meeting with the directors. But if I don’
t stay here, I will go back to France.”
Menez arrived in the Italian capital from Ligue 1 side Monaco last summer for
a fee of €10.5 million.
But the skilled trequartista has struggled to adapt to life in Serie A and
has grown increasingly frustrated at his limited first-team opportunities.
“I am settled in Rome,” continued Menez. “I would like to stay, but I
would also play more. We’ll see what happens.”
