Veteran defender Christian Panucci, who spent last season with Roma, must make a decision about his future. The player's contract with the Giallorossi expired on June 30, meaning he is now a free-agent. The player's representative, Oscar Damiani, has stated that a decision will be made soon. "We are evaluating some proposals, in the coming days there will be news," he told Primo Canale on Friday. The 36-year-old is unlikely to re-sign with the Giallorossi, after he spent a period in the middle of the season ostracized from the squad after lashing out at coach Luciano Spalletti. Reports throughout the Italian press indicate that his most likely destination is either newly promoted Parma or his former club Genoa. The player got his start in the Grifoni's youth system, making his first senior appearance in 1992, and should he join them would likely finish his career in the port city. Meanwhile, Parma are looking for some experience at the back to help them maintain their top flight status in 2009-10.
