Report: Francesco Totti Set To Sign New Roma Deal
‘Er Pupone’ has agreed a contract extension to end his career at the
Olimpico.
Roma celebrate their 82nd anniversary today and it is hoped captain Francesco
Totti will come up with a special birthday present.
According to the Corriere dello Sport, the 32-year-old striker has agreed
terms over a new deal to stay at his hometown club until 2014 on wages of €5
million-per-season. In addition, the parties have also outlined a future
director role for the No 10.
An official announcement is expected shortly, and Totti has already fired a
warning shot to his detractors. “Those who don’t agree can switch
allegiance,” he said in Riscone di Brunico, where Roma spent the first part
of their summer preparations.
Totti was evidently referring to prospective Roma buyer Vinicio Fioranelli’s
lawyer, Nicola Irti, who launched a scathing attack on the Lupi icon earlier
this month, claiming he is ruining the club and the Giallorossi would be
better off getting rid of him.
However, talks between president Rosella Sensi and Fioranelli have fizzled
out, and a takeover seems unlikely to be completed.
