He argues it's tough to work when being so closely scrutinised... Italian referee designator Pierluigi Collina is urging coaches and players to scale-back protests against the men in black, claiming it's hard for them to do their jobs when constantly under pressure. The former whistle blower gave a special talk in Florence and lobbied for more leniency towards referees. Collina feels too much pressure will only force the officials into making more errors. "We have to try and put less pressure on referees. It's not justifiable to try and pick out everything that happens in a game at all costs," Collina told the conference. "This puts pressure on referees and you cannot work well with all this pressure. The referees whistle more in Italy because they are scared of the replays."
