Having completed the loan signing of Luca Toni from Bayern Munich, voices in
Italy suggest that Roma are about to complete another transfer in the next
few days.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, I Lupi are set to sign Marcio Azevedo
on loan from Atletico Paranaense with an option to buy at the end of the
season.
The 23-year-old has been eyed up as an alternative to John Arne Riise at left
back, and is noted for his pace and accomplished dribbling skills. Roma are
currently using agent Alessandro Lucci to broker the deal, and he is likely
to complete negotiations for Azevedo in the early part of next week when he
flies to Brazil to discuss the transfer of Edinho from Lecce to Palmeiras.
Roma's offer currently stands at €200,000 to take the player on loan until
the end of the season, with the option to buy him for €1.2 million in the
summer. The Furacao are believed to be demanding €500,000 for the loan, with
a fixed price of €2.2m for a permanent transfer.
However, having missed out on next year's Copa Sudamericana due to their 14th
placed finish in the Brasileirao, reports suggest that the Brazilians are
ready to lower their demands and that an agreement is now not too far off.
