De Canio expects Roma reaction
Lecce boss Gigi De Canio expects “a strong reaction from Roma” after their
recent crisis in this afternoon’s game.
The Salentini visit the Stadio Olimpico and are two points in front of the
Giallorossi.
“They had a few problems and were unable to work consistently due to
injuries, but they remain an excellent squad and I expect a strong reaction
from Roma,” said De Canio.
“As for Lecce, we are looking to put in a good performance. If we play well,
then it’s possible we could bring home a good result.”
The newly-promoted side was expected to struggle this season in Serie A, but
already has 11 points from eight rounds despite 4-0 thrashings at Milan and
Juventus.
“It is a nice tally, even if we dropped a few points along the way. We mustn
’t get ahead of ourselves, though...
“We got the approach wrong against Juventus and Milan. Aside from the
result, we have to prove against Roma that we can play well against a top
club as well, even if the gap in quality is notable.”
