Rosewall supports record breaking pair

TENNIS legend Ken Rosewall visited Bowral to take part in the tennis marathon
which was held to raise money for cancer research.
A grand slam winner and considered to be one of Australia’s greatest tennis
players, Rosewall gave his support to the two struggling locals.
“It’s an amazing strength of endurance. The boys have been at it [and] I’m
seeing some fantastic shots after 30 hours of tennis,” he said.
網壇傳奇Ken Rosewall造訪新南威爾斯州的寶路鎮，參加一個為了癌症研究募款
而舉行的網球馬拉松比賽。
這位大滿貫贏家被視為是澳洲最偉大的網球選手，Rosewall給予貧濟的兩個地點
援助。他表示，"這些男孩的耐力十分地驚人，他們已經打了三十個小時的網球，
我看到他們打出許多不可思議的球路。"
The first time that Rosewall has visited the tennis centre, he said that he
was impressed and that the event was great for promoting tennis at a local
level.
“Every little bit of publicity encourages younger people to get involved in
the game. There’s no wonder there’s a good deal of tennis interest in the
districts here. I think in some areas there’s been a bit of a drop of
interest.”
當Rosewall初次來到網球中心，他對這個活動印象很深刻，他認為這有效地提升
當地網球的水準。
"每舉辦一次活動能鼓勵一些年輕人參與網球運動。無疑地能增進地區對網球發展
的興趣。不過有些地方就對此不怎麼關心。"
Rosewall said that Australia has established some good training programs for
younger players and hopes to see this rewarded within the next few years.
“Hopefully within the junior coaching programs there are some very good 16
and 17 year olds that will come [through] to make our Australian Davis Cup
team and the future of Australian tennis stronger,” he said.
他表示，澳洲已經為這些年輕球員，建立許多好的訓練課程，他希望近幾年就能
看到成效。"但願這些初階課程，能吸引一些有活力的16、17歲少年來參加，組成
台維斯盃隊，也能讓澳洲網球的未來逐漸茁壯。"
Looking at the performance of some of our current international stars,
Rosewall was impressed with the performance of Samantha Stosur, saying that
she has been the cornerstone of women’s tennis in Australia over the last
year. He also believes that she will play even better next year.
In the men’s tennis, Rosewall hopes that Lleyton Hewiit will remain injury
free and continue to lead the men’s game.
He is also looking to some of the younger players to strengthen Australian
tennis in the coming years.
“Carsten Ball and Paul Hanley in the doubles and then the other young one
Bernard Tomic. So we’re probably looking for Bernard in the next few years
to improve his game and be a strong part of our Australian Davis Cup team.”
Rosewall也有注意現今國際的知名球星的球賽，他對Sam Stosur的印象特別深刻，
並稱讚她為澳洲女網界的基石。他也相信Sam來年會表現得更好。
而男網的部分，他期盼Hewiit能盡快復原傷勢，並繼續領導澳洲男子網壇。
他也對一些年輕選手多有留意，並期盼他們在接下來幾年能將澳洲網球發揚光大。
"雙打部分有Carsten Ball和Paul Hanley，然後單打有一個Bernard Tomic。
我們可對Tomic之後的發展有所期待，他或許能成為未來澳洲台維斯盃隊的重點人物。"
PS. Rosewall坐擁八座大滿貫冠軍，橫亙開放年代前後，
4座澳網、2座法網、2座美網，並在溫網四度闖入決賽。
